Effective / Last Updated:
This Medical Disclaimer applies to your use of the CataLift mobile app for iOS and Android (the "App"), built and operated by Jon Elias ("CataLift", "we", "us"). It forms part of our End User License Agreement (EULA) and Terms of Service. When you accept the "Medical Disclaimer & EULA" in the App, you agree to it.
⚠️ CRITICAL HEALTH WARNING
By accepting this Medical Disclaimer, you acknowledge that:
- This App is NOT medical advice
- You MUST consult a doctor before starting any exercise program
- Exercise involves risks, including injury or death
- You assume all risks voluntarily
- We are NOT liable for injuries or health issues
1. NOT MEDICAL ADVICE
- CataLift is a workout tracking app. It provides fitness tracking, information and workout suggestions only.
- It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a medical device.
- We are not doctors, physicians, or licensed medical professionals.
- Content in the App is for general educational and informational purposes only. Do not use the App as a substitute for professional medical advice, and never disregard or delay seeking medical advice because of something you read or saw in the App.
2. CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR
Consult a qualified, licensed physician before starting any exercise program or making changes to your training, especially if you:
- Have heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or any chronic medical condition
- Have bone, joint, or muscle problems, or have had surgery or a serious injury in the past year
- Are pregnant, recently gave birth, or are nursing
- Take prescription medications
- Have experienced chest pain, dizziness, fainting, or shortness of breath
- Have not exercised regularly in a long time
3. STOP EXERCISING IMMEDIATELY IF
- You feel chest pain, tightness, or pressure
- You have difficulty breathing or severe shortness of breath
- You feel dizzy, lightheaded, faint, or nauseous
- You feel sharp, shooting, or severe pain, numbness or tingling

If symptoms are severe or do not go away, seek medical attention immediately. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
4. HEALTH DATA FROM APPLE HEALTH AND HEALTH CONNECT
- If you connect Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android), the App can show data such as steps, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability and workouts.
- This data is shown for general informational and fitness-tracking purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, monitor, or prevent any disease or medical condition.
- Its accuracy depends on your phone, watch, or other devices and apps. Readings may be incomplete or inaccurate.
- Do not rely on the App for heart rate or any other health monitoring. Talk to a doctor about any reading that concerns you.
5. TRAINING INSIGHTS, PROGRAMS AND OTHER USERS' CONTENT
- Training insights (for example predicted one-rep max, strength standards, plateau, deload, recovery and volume insights) are automated estimates based on the data you log. They may be inaccurate and are not professional assessments.
- Workout programs, challenges and suggestions are not medical prescriptions, may not suit your needs or limitations, and are not guaranteed to produce specific results.
- Content created or shared by other users (programs, comments, messages) is not reviewed by medical or fitness professionals and may be unsafe or inaccurate for you.
- Exercise instructions and linked videos are educational only and are not personalized to your body. Form check videos you record are for your own review; the App does not analyze your form. Consider a certified trainer for technique coaching.
- Step challenges and leaderboards are for motivation only. Do not push beyond what is safe for you to win a challenge.
6. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
- Exercise, including strength training, involves inherent risks, including muscle and joint injuries, cardiovascular events, and in rare cases death.
- You are responsible for assessing your own abilities, using proper form and appropriate weights, warming up, using safe equipment and a safe environment (for example a spotter for heavy lifts), and resting when needed.
- You use the App and follow any workout, program or insight voluntarily and at your own risk.
7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CataLift is not liable for any injury, health complication, or other loss arising from your use of the App or from following any workout, program, insight, or content in it. See the EULA and Terms of Service for the full limitation of liability. Nothing in this disclaimer limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
